Running in London for Autism
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As you probably know our family has dealt with autism for many years. Zachary, our oldest son, is on the spectrum. In addition, we have met hundreds of families who also deal with the challenges of autism through school, Special Olympics, Special Hockey, and other activities in which both of our boys, Holden and Zachary, participate. Autism challenges our family and so many others in countless ways. Autism means having to endure stares from strangers when your child doesn't behave in public. Autism can mean no birthday party invites, no sleepovers, no prom, no first driving lessons, no visiting campuses in preparation for college--none of the things so many people take for granted when raising a child.
I'm asking you to help me raise money for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR). OAR is unique in its focus on applied research; that is, research with a high probability of producing tangible and practical benefits to families dealing with the challenges of autism. I have a once in a lifetime opportunity in 2017 to run both the Boston and London marathon in the same week. Running in the London marathon gives me the chance to combine my love of running with my desire to support families like mine.
