Dad and I are very excited to run the Marine Cops Marathon on October 22, 2017 in honor of my twin sons Emmet & Dominic. Emmet & Dominic were both diagnosed with autism at the age of 18 months now they are two years old and on race day they will be three. The pride you have from having a child is like no other but the pride you have from having a child with autism or special needs is even greater. Despite the challenges that our beautiful boys face every day, they excel through every trial and tribulation; more so, they excel with a smile on their faces, and immesurable love in their hearts. 
Every day with the boys is a gregarious blessing, but no less a struggle. Their myriad of therapies and appointments are building their skills to quite literally survive and thrive in every day life. It is becuase of these daily battles our boys fight, that we are running a marathon for them, and others like them all around the world. For, every day as a special needs child is akin to climbing that mountain; every achievement, their own personal marathon. 
Before every marathon, a runner trains their body, prepares their mind, and steels their spirit to the huge journey ahead. For our boys, and other special needs children, OAR gives those children the tools and techniques to conquer their personal marathons every day.
