49. I am 49 years old. It is 49 days until I run the Marine Corps Marathon on October 22, 2017. When I ran my last (and only) marathon, I was 29 years old. I was a newlywed living in Chicago with a husband in grad school. And while he was training for a triathlon and taking classes at Kellogg, I worked and I trained too. In just four months, I went from never running more than 3.1 miles to running the Chicago Marathon.
Twenty years later, we are the parents of four amazing kids and we live in Virginia. When my husband asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate my "50th year", I said that I wanted to run another marathon. This time it would be on the East Coast. This time I would raise funds for a cause that is very close to my heart and to our family. The Organization for Autism Research.
I am proud and I am honored to support an organization that helps people living with autism and their families. People like my son and our family.
