Hello Everyone,
On April 22, 2018, I will be running 26.2 miles in the London Marathon with a team, benefiting OAR (Organization for Autism Research), a national, non profit organization. I am excited for the opportunity to be running for something greater than just my personal enjoyment and I am reaching out for support in this journey!
Approximately 1 in 68 children will be diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) this year. Receiving an ASD diagnosis can be overwhelming, leaving parents feeling unsure of what to expect. I want to help by supporting an organization that directly impacts these children's lives, their families and communities, and bring awareness to a disorder that is becoming more common. There is no cure for ASD, but the lives of children can be drastically improved with early intervention.
OAR uses donations to fund research which directly impacts the quality of every day life of learners with ASD, they also create and supply educational resources to families and educators who are impacted by ASD. Scholarships for students with ASD are also provided through the donations to OAR.
My goal is to raise $6,500. Knowing that these funds will be used towards scholarships for students with autism, resources for education and communities, and the many additional services OAR provides in an effort to improve quality of life, will make the training so much more meaningful.
