Hi friends and family and welcome to my dad and my fundraising page!
This year I made an executive decision for both my dad and my self to run the Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon. Running has always been a passion of mine and a somewhat newfound hobby for my dad. This year we decided to use our passion and hobby as a way to support the autism community as a whole.
As many of you may know (and for those of you who may not), I have always considered my family to be extra blessed because of my older brother Brian who has autism. To many, autism may be seen as a disability, but that is not at all how I see it. Autism is a gift. Brian has taught and continues to teach my family beautiful life lessons every single day. Brian has inspired me in a number of ways – in fact, he is the reason I am on the road to pursing my dream of becoming a special education teacher – and now he has inspired my dad and I to give back to the whole autism community and their families.
This May, my dad and I will be running 13.1 miles in the Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) in honor of Brian. There are still a number of mysteries about autism that have yet to be discovered but with your kind donations and the help of OAR we can slowly begin to put together the puzzle that is autism. We commend this organization for the support they offer families, much like mine, whose lives revolve around autism everyday and for the research that they fund.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped us to reach our first goal of $500! Since we had such great success over the past few days, we decided to double our orginial goal. We would love for you to support us in reaching our new goal of $1,000! All you have to do is simply click on the "DONATE" link on this page. Any gift is greatly appreciated and no gift is too small! If you would rather donate via check I will post instructions to do so below.
My dad and I are incredibly excited to be running for such a great cause and we thank you all in advance for your generosity and support.
