In September 2019, I will be running the BMW Berlin Marathon to raise funds for a cause that is close to my heart. My goal is to raise $3,000 to fund Autism research, offer resources and scholarships to individuals diagnosed with autism through a national non-profit organization called Organization for Autism Research (OAR).
I want to raise some awareness that Autism is not a disease, nor an illness, it is a fundamental aspect of your identity. People with Autism can achieve true greatness. Just look at Einstein, Steve Jobs, Mozart, Michelangelo, Sir Isaac Newton or Charles Darwin!
I hope that this campaign will stop people from judging, and get them to start thinking. There is a reason that boy is crying, there is a reason that girl does not play with anyone or talk much. There is a reason behind every action, and we need to take the time to understand that. I hope this goes some way to highlighting that.
