Hi, I'm Suzie. I am a runner/mover. I enjoy celebrating my bodies capabilities by choosing to move in ways that makes my soul rejoice. Running is a fundamental movement in my life that makes me a better mom/wife/friend/person. I am also a mom to 2 incredible children who love to move and feed thier soul in thier own unique ways. They love sports, team and individual, competative and not.
I have chosen to raise money and awareness for Autism in response to our son being recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Most who meet him may not understand or see his struggles and often jump to conclusions as to who he is. My goal is to help the world understand that, just as we are all different, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. Once having a "label" of ASD, doesn't mean you will look any more alike to another child with ASD as ones who don't. Have empathy and patience for people who seem a bit distant or 'odd' in their reactions or behaviors, even if they come and go. Teach your children to be accepting and celebrate differences, ALL differences, not just the ones that make sense to them. With all people, celebrate their strengths, even if you don't understand them. (I am two feet in, burried in learning about coding and robots... NOT MY STRONG SUIT... but I am doing everything I can to celebrate his unique talents) Everyone has places they struggle! We all have individual weaknesses. My hope is to raise awareness, specifially for high-funtioning austim, as it really is a very invisible disorder, making it harder for people to connect to and relate to. My prayer is not that you would treat anyone with ASD differently, but THE SAME.
