The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) funds and applies "practical research that examines issues and challenges that children and adults with autism and their families face everyday." When Noah was diagnosed, they sent us quality parent materials and a young siblings guide for free.
This isn't about cracking the genetic code or "curing" autism - autism brings challenges and joys to our family. For us, research and advocacy for individuals living on the spectrum and their families is most critical and that's where OAR focuses its energy.
This is my third Marine Corps Marathon, but my first time working with a charity. The idea of raising money for OAR adds a new level of excitement to the idea of 200+ miles of training! Help if you can in any amount you can share.
